In conversation with fashion stylist Isa Groenevelt

On inspiration, styling secrets and the items she can’t do without.

Editor: Social Media & Influencer Coordinator Floor Bogaers

As a stylist at Orangebag, Isa works daily on translating trends into wearable, inspiring looks. With her sharp eye for detail, she knows how to add that little extra touch to every outfit. Her style is trendy and effortless and forms the foundation of her work as a stylist.

Can you tell us something about yourself and how your interest in fashion styling started?
“My name is Isa Groenevelt, I’m 23 years old and I live in Gorinchem. Two years ago, I completed the Allround Styling program at the 55 Creative Business School in Hilversum. My interest in clothing started at a young age, and during this program it became clear to me that I wanted to make this my career. After graduating, I did an internship at Lieve Heuvelmans Styling, where I worked on photoshoots, TV programs, and other projects. During this period, I was constantly working with clothing, brands, and stores, which is also how I became familiar with Orangebag.”

How would you describe your style?
“I think: trendy, layered, and a bit playful. I like building an outfit rather than finishing it all at once. I don’t like things to be perfect or overly planned — I actually find it beautiful when it feels a bit effortless and natural.”

“For me, it’s really about the accessories. A belt, jewelry, or a bag can completely finish an outfit.”

What item should never be missing from any wardrobe according to you?
“A good blazer. It’s one of those pieces you can always wear, whether you’re dressed simply or going for something more bold. It instantly makes a look stronger.”

What styling tip do you always apply?
“Work in layers and think in contrasts. For example, combine something oversized with something more fitted, or a soft fabric with something more structured. That keeps an outfit visually interesting.”

Which trend are you enjoying right now?
“I really like the neck scarf trend at the moment. It’s such a small item, but it can really add something to your outfit and make it more personal. I’m also a fan of boat loafers, especially the Posa boat loafers. They add a bit of edge to a look while still being very wearable.”

When is an outfit truly ‘finished’ for you?
“For me, it’s really about the accessories. A belt, jewelry, or a bag can completely finish an outfit. Sometimes you have a very simple base, and it’s those details that make it interesting.”

Where do you get your inspiration from?
“Mainly from social media, especially TikTok. That might sound obvious, but that’s really where you first see what’s happening. Not just trends, but also how people combine things. Sometimes it’s very simple, but that’s exactly what makes it inspiring — it makes you think: I could do this too.”

How do you approach creating a look for a shoot?
“I almost always start with one item that forms the base for me. That could be a blazer, or a pair of trousers. From there I start building. I pay a lot of attention to proportions: what happens when you combine something oversized with something fitted? Or when you layer different lengths? By experimenting with that, something that works naturally starts to emerge.”

Which shoot are you especially proud of?
“The campaign shoot for the new webshop was really special to work on, because everything came together there. It was the first shoot for the new website, which made it extra meaningful. The styling, the atmosphere, and the entire setting just worked. It was great to see how everything came together and how the images really show what Orangebag stands for now.”
